FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Are classes separated by age or rank?
Yes. To optimize the learning environment, our classes are divided up by age and rank. This
allows us to better focus on you and your child’s specific needs. Each class isn’t simply a copy-and-paste training session, each class is an experience aimed at coaching you towards
your goals.
Can I/my child try a class before signing up?
Absolutely! We pride ourselves on transparency and believe it is important that you are able to get a crystal clear idea of what to expect before enrolling. It is for these reasons that we offer a free, no-commitment trial class. You can book yours by giving us a call at (310) 372-8053 or filling out our form HERE [insert link to your lead capture form].
What do I need to know before my first martial art class?
We’ve got your back! Our instructors are martial art professionals and will show you everything you need to know in order to get started and to quickly excel in your martial art journey. Aside from excitement and an open mind, the only thing we recommend that you bring is a water bottle. We have a water bottle filling station you can use to refill when you need.
What style do you teach?
The core of our curriculum is self-defense and Karate. As you advance and build a solid foundation in these important skills, your training is supplemented with ground fighting techniques and essential self-defense tactics influenced by other arts–including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, and Kenpo.
Do I need to be in shape before starting martial arts?
Nope! Contrary to common thought, you don’t have to get fit before you begin–you get fit by taking the first steps and actually beginning. Whether you struggle with obesity or injury, our instructors are here to coach you in the best ways possible towards better health and athletic ability
What is the best age to start martial art training?
The age you are right now. The idea that you have to start at a certain age is a myth and one that we are here to help dispel. We offer classes that focus directly on the needs of students as young as five years old or who are older and need a group of similarly aged peers to train with.
Will I learn how to protect myself?
Absolutely! It has been proven numerous times that quality martial art training can save your life when faced with conflict or serious violence. Our unique curriculum especially focuses on the
aspects of training which will help empower you and give you the skillset to stay safe wherever
you go.
Can I stay to watch my child’s class?
Yes! In fact, we greatly encourage it. Our kid classes aren’t just a physical activity or sport, they are also exciting experiences that provide valuable life skills and self-defense knowledge. We feel it is important that parents know what their child is learning, so that they can understand the full value of the training and support their child’s progress when they are at home.
Will my child become a bully?
Not at all. As much as we teach our students how to punch and kick, we also put an emphasis on when and when not to punch and kick. Every physical skill learned has a mental benefit attached to it. For example, students learn about self-control when working drills with a partner, so that they don’t use their skills when angry or to show off.
How will I know if martial art training is right for me or my child?
You won’t. At least, not until you come in and actually gain the experience. We can talk endlessly about the perks of martial art training and how it can help you unlock the best version of yourself, however it is something that you ultimately have to actually experience. It is for this reason that we offer a free, no-commitment trial class. You can set up your trial lesson by reaching out at (310) 372-8053 or filling out our form HERE [insert link to your lead capture
